The much-anticipated gospel showcase hosted by the Heavenly Outbreat team lit up Raylton Sports Club on Saturday, drawing a vibrant crowd of youth from diverse backgrounds, all gathered for a powerful time of praise, rhythm, and revival.

Headlining the event was veteran vocalist Tunga, formerly of the iconic duo MaFriq, alongside former Zim Hip Hop Award winner Leon. The duo, part of a lineup that signaled a significant return to the gospel stage, shared the spotlight with a host of seasoned gospel artists. Notable names included Churchboi, Reaper, Whistle, Red I Am, C Verb, AMB, Joe Chiz and Jason Gwanzura, among others—each delivering electrifying performances that echoed across the venue.

The show also spotlighted rising gospel talent, many of whom impressed with their powerful stage presence and lyrical conviction. Renowned gospel rapper J Soldier took the helm as event director, keeping the energy high and the schedule flowing seamlessly throughout the night.

Speaking exclusively to the event organizers, they expressed heartfelt satisfaction with the turnout and reception. “It’s been years since Gospel Hip Hop made such an impact,” one organizer noted. “Back in 2013 to 2015, artists like Courtney Antipas, Pastor Rudy with Toraguta, Nowizz, The Switch, and others were leading the charge. But over time, the movement lost momentum.”

Groups like Chosen have since attempted to revive the genre, but Saturday’s event may mark a pivotal moment in its resurgence. “The harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few,” added another organizer. “This might just be the spark we needed.”
